Elementals
Greetings MechWarriors,
With the upcoming release of Ghost Bear: Flash Storm, we’re thrilled to finally bring a legendary unit of Clan warfare to the frontlines: the fearsome Elementals.
These towering warriors are a symbol of Clan battlefield dominance, and now—for the first time—you’ll be fighting alongside them and against them in full gameplay form.
Lore
Like all Trueborn warriors, Elementals are the byproducts of the Clan's eugenics program that, through select breeding and genetic engineering, routinely produces the next generation of genetically superior soldiers for the Clans. And nowhere is that mastery of genetic manipulation more evident than in the hulking two to two and a half meter tall men and women bred to be the Clan's shock infantry and the iconic battle armor that shares their namesake.
As a staple of the Clan's arsenal since their debut in 1989, we had envisioned including Elementals in the base game. But we were ultimately confined to the role of cinematic appearances in the Smoke Jaguar campaign. With Ghost Bear: Flash Storm that changes.
The Elementals are finally here. And they’re lethal.
DesigN
Veteran MechWarrior artist Alex Iglesias led the concept design of the Elemental battle armor. His work strikes a balance between iconic silhouette and functional detail—highlighting how these units move, fight, and protect the Trueborn warrior inside.
Building from his concept, our 3D team created high-detail models and shader variants, bringing Alex’s vision to life with manufacturing precision. Material variants were developed to represent different factions, including a menacing glow effect to enhance in-game readability.
Gameplay
Let’s talk about what it’s like to have a Point of Elementals fighting by your side—or trying to tear your cockpit open.
Friendly Elementals
When you deploy on missions in Flash Storm, you’ll bring a full Point of Elementals with you, who know exactly how to cause chaos. They’ll automatically engage any nearby enemies, but you can also direct them to focus on specific targets when you need to bring the pain. If an enemy 'Mech’s head armor has been stripped, nearby Elementals can execute a brutal takedown that ends the fight in spectacular fashion. And if your Point gets wiped out mid-mission, don’t worry—they’ll redeploy after a short cooldown and jump right back into the fray.
Enemy Elementals
Of course, you’re not the only one deploying with elite infantry. Enemy Elemental Points will appear in early missions of the expansion. They’re aggressive, mobile, and terrifyingly persistent. If one manages to leap onto your 'Mech, it’ll latch on and damage your 'Mech. While these attacks aren’t as lethal to players, the experience is intense—and a stark reminder of just how dangerous these units can be.
Final Notes
We’re incredibly excited for players to experience the addition of Elementals in Flash Storm. Whether you’re watching them rip through enemy 'Mechs or fending them off your own, they add a whole new layer of intensity to the battlefield.
Ghost Bear: Flash Storm launches May 7th 5 PM PDT (May 8th 00:00 UTC)—don’t forget to wishlist Ghost Bear: Flash Storm so you’re first in line to experience Mech Combat with Elementals.
